Social media was such a positive thing. Wasn’t it supposed to bring us together, help us communicate, and push us forward as a society? However, social media is just another tool we can use to enhance our lives positively or negatively.

It’s common to come away from social media with a downer feeling. Social media is full of people posting about the most amazing things—their great vacations, their amazing new jobs, their beautiful kids—and those posts can make us feel like we’re not doing enough with our lives and that we don’t have as much going for us as others do.

One reason is that we tend to look at other people’s posts and compare ourselves to them. We might see someone who looks happier, has more things than us, or has more friends than us and feels terrible about ourselves.

We can block them on social media or at least unfollow them. That way, we won’t be able to see their posts anymore. If you don’t want to unfollow them because you might miss their posts, or if they are your friends and family members, just block them so they cannot see them. If they comment on your post, you will still be able to see it, but they won’t be able to reply. You should also ensure not to engage with them because that will only worsen things!

Next, focus on positive rather than negative things when scrolling through your feed. If something is upsetting in front of you, just scroll past it without reading it! You don’t have to absorb other people’s negativity into your life if better things are out there waiting for you!
